When the last provisioning task of an Iridium SIM card (legacy telephony, prepay or Openport) is a deactivation, the status of the SIM card will change to Disposed. This status is to differentiate from a normal Deactivated status, where (re)Activation is possible.
A deactivated Iridium SIM card first needs to be unquarantined or released by Iridium to make the SIM card available for reactivation. As this is an administrative process at Iridium, this can’t be done via an IWS command through IBIS.
In order to reactivate a deactivated Iridium SIM Card, first request the SIM card to be released. When confirmed by Iridium, change the status of the SIM card in IBIS to Deactivated. Then the Activate button is available at the Device screen and it is possible to process an Activation order.
*A successful Deactivation of an Iridium Certus device results in SIM card status Deactivated. The device can be reactivated without any intervention.
