Iridium offers the option to extend the voice services with local numbers, initially for the US only but now also for other countries.
The existing +1 service can be included with an Iridium activation or as a configuration at a later stage.
Please find below how this is made available in Certus. For legacy Iridium activations, this is part of the standard activation.
For the new countries, the steps to include this in Iridium activations are as follows:
- The Iridium SP agrees on a set of local numbers with the third party provider
- Iridium adds the set of local numbers to the MSISDN inventory of the customer
- The Iridium SP adds the local number during activation, or later as part of the SIM card configuration.
